It is with pleasure on behalf of the Executive that I present the Presidents Report of Jamboree Residents Association Inc. for 2012-13 and announce the AGM for Saturday, 13^th July, 2013 for 1.30pm start at Westside Church 11 Intrepid Street, Jamboree Heights Qld (Agenda supplied in the near future)

Your executive has provided a wide range of agenda topics that should be of interest.   High on importance will be a presentation by an independent Town Planer who will explain sections of the Draft Brisbane City Plan involving Jamboree Heights.

New Website up and running!

Most of the information has now been transferred to this new site. A little more needs to be done, but that can happen while we're up and running.  The main advantage of this site is that JRA Members will be able to comment on articles, news, and alerts.  

Current financial Members can click on "Like to join JRA" (see right hand side of page) and sign up to establish their personal Login.  To become a new Member, you need to be an Owner (Residential or Absent) or Tennant of a residence in Jamboree Heights, Queensland; sign up using the online registration; and pay the annual fee (per household) via direct transfer - details provided on the online registration page.

It is with great pleasure I present the 3rd President’s report of JRA.

JRA does not endorse any particular party or candidate in accordance with our non-alliance policy. We are only providing information provided in response to our member's concerns and questions. JRA Executive hopes this additional information is helpful in making a very personal decision.
Unfortunately time restraints upon some of the Mt Ommaney Candidates led to the delay in presenting this information.
The candidates for the four leading parties are now aware of the main Local Issues directly affecting Jamboree Heights.

Attempted Break and Enters and Disturbances.

Mrs Attwood, the State Member for Mt Ommaney, invited Jamboree residents to meet with the Police Commissioner, Mr Bob Atkinson Tuesday evening, 18 October, 2011. Her initial invite was as follows:

You are warmly invited to attend a community meeting with the Police Commissioner Bob Atkinson APM to be held at 6.30pm on Tuesday 18 October 2011 at the Jindalee Bowls Club, corner of Sinnamon and Yallambee Roads Jindalee.
 
I have asked Commissioner Atkinson to address local groups in my electorate about a number of issues including:

JRA Executive is corresponding with Energex on ways that we can assist members with reducing their electricity bills.

JRA’S last promotion on the installation of home solar electricity generation, has delivered remarkable cost savings for those that proceeded with the installation.  A few residents have reported that they paid nothing for their last (winter) electricity bill and one resident received a $50 rebate. 

NB: JRA encourages residents to take into account all costs (e.g. installation, maintenance, upgrades, etc) when making their decisions re any alternative energy.  It is important to examine all aspects when calculating potential savings.  Ultimately, you are responsible for your own decisions and results.

Sirocco Intersection Signalised Traffic Lights

$15,000 budgeted for traffic study – all existing lights along Dandenong road to be put on same smart system and coordinated.
 
JRA expressed concerns that if a full set of lights were installed at the Sirocco/Central/Dandenong intersection that they might encourage the use on Galleon Street as an alternative route to Mt Ommaney Shopping Centre. JRA also expressed concerns that if entry and exit intervals at the Kentucky lights were reduced, it could encourage more motorists to use the Andaman Street access point.

Jamboree Residents Association Inc. members made a decision to join BRU for the following reasons:

• JRA would retain its own autonomy on issues affecting Jamboree Heights, but could draw on the experiences and expertise from other resident associations.JRA is not "anti-development". However, JRA was keen to participate in the management of growth in Brisbane to ensure there is no detrimental impact on our living standards or sense of community.
