Mr Shaun Powell, the recently appointed Centre Manage of Mt Ommaney Centre, had a get-to-know-you meeting this week with Jamboree Residents Association’s President Wayne Williams.

He has been well informed of the harmonious relationship that has existed between the previous managers of his complex and the residents of Jamboree Heights

Shaun thanked JRA volunteers for the revegetation project that is evolving jointly on Vicinity and Dept of Main Roads land that comprises the Detention Basin beside the old Mitre10 site.

WOOD PARK NAMING CEREMONY

Submitted by JRA-Site Admin on Wed, 27/07/2016 - 9:48am

On a potentially wet Sunday 19th June, some 60 members comprising West Centenary Scouts/Cubs/Joeys, WaCC members, JRA with local residents, Water Wood with extended family and Cr Matthew Bourke turned up for park activities and the official naming ceremony.

A short window in the predicted wet weather allowed the scouts to demonstrate some of their activities such as damper making and for WaCC to install a further 300 plants in the water course.

The following 75mm of rain was a bonus for the newly installed plants.

STORM SEASON - Check your Emergency Kit

Submitted by JRA-Site Admin on Sat, 15/11/2014 - 8:58pm

Create your Home Emergency Kit

An Emergency Kit contains essential items that you and other members of your household may need during and after a severe storm.  The Kit should be able to sustain you for at least three days in case essential services have been disrupted or you have been isolated by floodwater.  I use one of those large plastic containers on wheels. Goes in the shed/garage during winter, and is next to our kitchen during Queensland's summer.

The following basic items should be included in your Home Emergency Kit:

2014 Darra Street Party (Friday 17 Oct)

Submitted by JRA-Site Admin on Tue, 14/10/2014 - 12:46pm

Darra Street Party

Friday 17th October, 2014: 5pm until 9.30pm

(road closed between Darra Railway Station and the Darra Village shops)

Depending on good weather, the 11th Darra Street Party looks like it will be their best with an anticipated attendance of 4,000.  With the cancellation this year of the Rocks River Festival, the Darra festival is the place to go.  The Party has been generously sponsored by Westlink Green – the company responsible for the new technology precinct in the old Darra Cement site.

Many exhibitors will be onsite to promote their business as will 4 of our politicians.
The committee of the Darra community Group once again have provided children gold coin rides and stage entertainment provided with a mixture of very talented local school children and professional entertainers.  A family of four can come and be fed, amused and entertained for as low as $20.  There are no entry fees.

Jamboree Residents Association has thrown their weight behind this year’s event and is responsible for the running of the associated Monster Street Party Raffle.  22 Darra and Sumner Industrial Park businesses have provided as many prizes with the total prize pool of $5,000.  Tickets are $2 each and at short odds of collecting a prize.

In the main control marquee, JRA will have on display our recently won Spotless Suburb Award and BCC Cleanest City in Australia billboards which feature our local Meyer family’s involvement.

This is also where you can purchase your raffle tickets.  If you can’t attend on the night, you can purchase raffle tickets at Walter Wood’s newsagency on Sumner Road, River Hills or Mr Minute at Mt Ommaney Shopping Centre.

With the new alliance between JRA, Darra Community Group and the local businesses, you can be assured that the congestion along Sumner Road will be once again high on the State Election campaign.
